100 days memorial ceremony for Vichay's mother Oun

Oun Phommachan, Vichay's mother, passed away on February 11, 2025. 79 was her age. She found a stroke. She visited a hospital in Vientiane, Laos, but she spent hospice care back in her little town. She died while on life support. Our hearts are broken. After staying in Las Vegas for two years, she arrived in Laos in December 2023. She's spent thirty years in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Her husband, Somdy, passed away on August 12, 2022. There are two sons for Oun. While Vichay is deaf, Sith is hearing. She has two boys and three daughters as stepmothers.

Vichay couldn't see Mom the last time. He is unable to visit Laos at this time. In 2025, he was not present at her funeral on February 17. While watching a Facebook live video from a relative's Facetime, he paid his respects to his mother at home.

Oun's last resting place is the river, where his cremated remains are spread. It's not the end of the funeral. There are still plans for her 100-day ceremony. This spring, Vichay ought to visit Laos and pay tribute to Mom.
