My mom was a beautiful, caring woman who became a mom to everyone she met. She never met a stranger and always made people feel welcome. She worked hard as a bus driver until a spinal injury left her disabled, but she never let her circumstances take away her positive outlook on life. Her strength and kindness touched so many people, and she always found a way to lift others up, no matter what she was going through herself.
Recently, my mom passed away from terminal cancer. I am currently unable to work due to my own disability and am still in the process of getting help from disability, which is a much harder process than most people realize. It’s just me and a small group of family members trying to give her a proper farewell, but we simply don’t have the money for funeral expenses. The costs for the funeral service, cremation, a nice urn, and pendants for her ashes for her children, grandchildren, and close relatives are more than we can manage right now.
Since I was about 9 years old, it’s been just me and my mom. I did my best to take care of her, and while she always said I did a great job, I wish I could have given her even more in her later years. Giving her the best funeral possible is so important to me, but with the economy and my own disability, I just can’t afford it. If any donations could help make this possible, I would be deeply grateful beyond words. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can give.
