My mom was a kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of so many people in our community. She worked a lot of jobs over the years, but her heart truly belonged to Curtis Creek Retirement Home here in Quincy, IL, where she gave over 10 years of dedicated service. She loved and cherished the residents she served every single day, always taking the time to make each person feel special. The day she retired, she cried and cried, knowing how much she would miss the people who had become like family to her.

Retirement came for my mom after a series of illnesses and injuries, some related to her work and some not. Despite her own struggles, she always put others first and was loved by every one of the residents she cared for. Her compassion and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Recently, my mom was diagnosed with throat and lung cancer. She bravely endured chemotherapy treatments, but sadly, she passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026. I am now raising funds to help pay for her cremation services at Hansen-Spear funeral home.
