Maria Luz Garcia Galasso was a friend to many, known for her positive outlook and her deep love for her son, Joseph, who passed away in 2009, and her daughter Helena, who passed away in 2002. Despite facing significant health challenges—including being a kidney recipient and living with legal blindness—Maria remained kind, generous, and always willing to help those less fortunate. Her resilience and compassion touched everyone who knew her.

Earlier this year, Maria was admitted to the hospital with a severe infection. Although she received treatment, her health continued to decline as she moved between hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. Her husband, Mark, was by her side every day, supporting her through each setback. After months of struggle, Maria was placed in hospice care. She passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August the 2nd, 2025.

Maria and Mark shared a deep bond, having moved across the country to be together. Both lived with health issues. With no immediate family to help, Mark is now facing the overwhelming task of setting up Maria’s funeral, burial and memorial services, carrying out her final wishes, and continuing her legacy.
