Our beloved auntie, Maria Garcia, was a kind-hearted soul who loved me and my siblings like her own. She never had children of her own, but was always there for us, offering love, support, and guidance throughout our lives. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, and she made our family feel whole.
Unfortunately, Maria passed away on April 17th, 2026, in the Bay Area after suffering from cirrhosis of the liver and multi-organ failure, which led to cardiac arrest. The doctors were unable to resuscitate her. She was 70 years old. This past week, my siblings and I visited her in the hospital. We were able to tell her we love her one last time, and she was so happy to see us. We spent precious moments sharing family photos, happy stories, and memories, bringing her comfort and joy in her final days.
My siblings and I are spread out across California—I'm in Southern California, and my siblings are in Northern California—so organizing her burial services has been challenging. We are facing significant expenses for travel, gas, and time away from work, in addition to the high costs of funeral home services and burial arrangements. It’s a lot for us to manage, both emotionally and financially, but we want to give her the farewell she deserves.
We are reaching out for help from our community, friends, and anyone who feels moved by Maria’s story. Any support, no matter the amount, will make a difference for our family as we come together to honor her memory. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
