Stephney Machell Morrison!

Machell (we mostly called her Machell) was a radiant soul, devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister, friend, and fighter till the end.

For 15 courageous years, Machell (I mostly called her Machell) battled interstitial lung disease (ILD) with a warrior’s courage, unshakable faith in God, and a spirit that lifted everyone around her.

Her always on smile was there through every challenge, supported by her unorthodox sense of humor, and stubborn belief that she was going to be divinely healed.

In the final six months of her life, as her condition worsened, she fought hard for every breath with the help of multiple oxygen tanks and concentrators—sometimes using two or three nasal cannulas at once just to move around a little. Her last three months were filled with ER visits and lengthy ICU stays.

Despite being denied placement on the lung transplant list three times over the 15 years, she was finally listed on May 5, 2025. Tragically, her heart—exhausted from years of compensating for her lungs—failed during a significant cardiac decomposition event (precipitated by an abdominal infection the CVCC unit had missed), just two days later. After 12 days on life support, our beloved Machell passed away on May 18, 2025.

We are raising funds to help cover:

  • Extensive medical and household expenses
  • Final arrangements to celebrate her memory
  • A significant donation to ILD research in her name

To honor her life and warm the hearts of those she left behind, we will be holding what we are billing a “Machellabration” on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11am CT — a joyful event to celebrate her smile, her spirit, her faith, and her passion for family and friends. Please message us for more information if you are in East Texas and would like to attend.

Thanks in advance for your generosity. Every gift, small or large, will make a difference as we honor Machell’s journey and help advance the fight against ILD.
