Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Hearts,

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved mother, Kathleen Ann Daly, who everyone affectionately knew as Kathy. Kathy was a woman of boundless, unconditional kindness. Her patron saint was Saint Jude—the patron of lost causes—which was fitting because Kathy never gave up on anyone, no matter how tough things got. Too many times to count, her generosity cost her more than she had to give, but she never stopped trying to lift others up. She was my constant helper and my safety net, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

Her life was defined by resilience and fierce love for her three sons: Stanley Wood III (Chip), William Wood (Bill), and me, Daniel Daly. Kathy found her ultimate joy in being a grandmother, pouring her heart into her grandchildren and celebrating every milestone. She cherished her grandchildren deeply and always put her children and grandchildren first.

Family was everything to Kathy. She shared a deeply cherished bond with her siblings: William Daly Jr., Susan Berrigan Daly, John Daly, and the late Brian Daly. Kathy loved her brothers and sister dearly, and the relationship she shared with Susan was the absolute definition of sisterly love. She carried a profound love and gratitude for all of them throughout her life.

Kathy truly enjoyed having friends or family over daily for as long as I can remember. She loved playing cribbage and other card games, and watching reruns of her favorite shows while relaxing. One of her favorite traditions was smoking a joint with friends once a week, playing cribbage, and catching up—long before cellphones and social media made it easy to stay in touch. These moments brought her so much joy and connection.

Life was never easy for Kathy; she faced deep depression and addiction but fought her way out and was proudly clean for over a decade. She was a true flower child at heart and deeply enjoyed expressing that free, colorful spirit in her final years.

To all of Kathy’s friends: you were each a treasured part of her life. She deeply valued every laugh, story, and moment shared with you. Please know that she was honored to be your friend.

As a faithful Catholic, she deserves a traditional final farewell that honors her beliefs. We want to give Kathy the proper Catholic funeral mass and traditional burial she deserves, as well as a gravestone so we have a peaceful place to remember her.

Because I live paycheck to paycheck and have no savings, I am completely unprepared for the high cost of a funeral and burial. I am facing this overwhelming situation without the one person who always bailed me out. Please consider donating if you are able. Any amount—even the smallest gift—will help us give this incredibly selfless woman the send-off she earned. If you cannot donate, please share this link and keep our family in your prayers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.
