Help Honor Justin Masson's Final Wishes

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

My name is Samantha Shuey, I am Justin Masson’s sister.

On Saturday, August 24th, 2024, our worst fears came true. Justin was found with a single gunshot wound to his head. Initially, he was pronounced dead at the scene, and as they were transporting him to the hospital, they were able to find a faint pulse. They then flew him to the #1 trauma unit in Tennessee, Vanderbilt Hospital.

As the phone calls started to pour in on what little information of the situation we all had, we all started preparing to travel to Tennessee to say our goodbyes. His mother, Brandy Laur was in Nebraska, his brother (Colten Laur) in Texas preparing for a wedding in 5 days, his sister (me) in Connecticut preparing for a newborn child in just a month, his fiancée was thankfully there with him and his dad, Paul Masson was in Texas. Sadly, because of the situation, he was put on a no info list, and they were not releasing much information on him nor letting Micaela Blake (fiancée) see him.

Justin was rushed to surgery. He had a brain bleed, and they removed a portion of his skull. He was put on life support, and it was time to just keep him comfortable until the family arrived. He initially had very little brain activity and was breathing a little on his own, but it just was not enough. By the time we arrived, we had come to the conclusion to pull him off of life support, as for this was Justin’s decision many years ago.

Following this, we found out that Justin may have viable organs, so we had chosen to wait just one more day for testing and to see if he could save a life. Justin had “golden blood” (AB Neg) and was able to successfully give 4 candidates a life-saving donation immediately. His heart, his liver, both kidneys to two different people. His pancreas and spleen will go to someone as well. We just have not had confirmation on if these were successful or not yet. As most of you know, Justin was no stranger to being a pain in the butt, and was always stubborn, so for him to save 4 lives already, possibly 6, means the world to us. He may not have been many people’s hero, but we will always honor his death and celebrate that he has saved lives.

Some of you may already know, Justin and our grandfather were two pea’s in a pod, up until he passed away many years ago, and Justin lost a huge part of himself. His grandpa’s birthday was on August 27th. At 3:02 P.M. on August 27th, 2024, Justin found peace, and his battle was finally over. He officially got to go home and see Papa. He wanted to be buried by his grandpa, so as we prepare to get him transported from Nashville, Tennessee to Missouri, we are asking for your help to fulfill his wishes. At the moment, we are preparing for a funeral of Sept 13 if we can get all the transport done, and we will further update friends and family once we figure it out.

As we mourn and grieve, I would like to take this time to tell everyone how thankful we are for all the support we have had. And thank all the people over the years who have stayed by Justin’s side or played a role in showing him love. Justin was a hard one to understand and was hard-headed. He was not easy to love, but he loved so deeply when he was not fighting his own demons with many different diseases.

So thank you again for taking the time to read this and for being here to celebrate Justin’s life. Your kindness and compassion are a reflection of the same love that Justin gave so freely to everyone around him.
With deepest gratitude and sorrow.

If you would like to donate another way you can do so by sending your donation to a cashapp…
we are only giving this an option due to some saying they take too much of the donations through here.
