Our family is heartbroken after the unexpected loss of my uncle, Joel Barboza. He meant so much to all of us, and it’s still hard to believe he’s gone. Joel was always on fire for the Lord, with a calm demeanor and a kind word for everyone he met. He greeted people warmly, always checking in to see how you were doing, and he shared his wisdom generously. Every time he spoke, it felt like he had infinite wisdom, but I truly believe that was God speaking through him.
Joel also lived with schizophrenia, and while he sometimes struggled when he didn’t have his medication, he never let that stop him from sharing his faith and kindness with those around him. He read the word of God faithfully and inspired everyone with his strength and compassion.
We’re holding up as best we can, but losing Joel has left a hole in our hearts. We want to give him the proper burial he deserves, but we simply don’t have the money to cover the costs. Joel didn’t have life insurance, so we’re reaching out for help. If you’re able, please consider supporting our fundraiser. Your generosity would mean more to us than words can say, and it would help us honor Joel’s memory in the way he deserves.
