My son, Jerry Montgomery, passed away at Barnes hospital on December 23 after a difficult battle with heart and lung disease. For months, Jerry was in and out of the hospital, fighting bravely while also trying to keep up with home finances on very little money. Even during his illness, Jerry was always thinking about how he could help others. He had to leave his job to focus on his health, and despite his best efforts, his health declined rapidly. Jerry was only 41 years old, and losing him so suddenly has been a heartbreak I never imagined I would face, especially as his mother.

Unfortunately, Jerry did not have life insurance to help cover the costs of his passing, and I am on a fixed income with no extra money to help with funeral and memorial expenses. This is the first time I have ever been in a situation where I need to bury a loved one, and it is overwhelming in every way. I want to give Jerry the respectful farewell he deserves, but I cannot do it alone.
