Help Honor Jared's Memory and Legacy
Donation protected
Hi everyone, we are asking for any help that we can get for the medical and funeral expenses for my lovely son Jared. Jared is an amazing young man who has always given so much strength and smiles to all those around him.
As a kid, he used to love to play outside, hike, and enjoy the outdoors. What can only be described as a mother's worst nightmare, after already struggling for 3 years and dozens of misdiagnoses, at 16 he was diagnosed with Fredrich's Ataxia, a degenerative disease. Over the next 8 years, his condition steadily worsened. At 18, we all went through the Campfire and lost everything, and we are still working on rebuilding. Shortly thereafter, despite losing everything, and being mostly wheelchair-bound, he volunteered over the course of the next 2 years to help all those affected by the Campfire. A few years later, he was fighting for his life after contracting Covid, and after months in the hospital, he recovered. Another 2 years later, earlier this April, just a few days before his 24th birthday, once again he returned to the hospital attending both Enloe, and UC Davis. Unbeknownst to all, this was the beginning of the end.
After fighting for months, the doctors gave us the news we never wanted to hear. There was nothing more that they could do for him. After weeks of many tears, discussions, and praying for a miracle, the pain became too much to bear, and he began hospice. Accepting that my baby would leave us first has made these last few weeks the hardest trial we've ever faced. We are thankful for all of the support we have had over the last few weeks and finally, after fighting and struggling for years, at 3:47pm on Friday, August 9th, he took his last breath peacefully, and surrounded by family.
We are beyond devastated, but also grateful that he can finally be at rest. Like myself, I know he has affected so many of the lives around him for the better and he will be forever cherished in our hearts. We are asking for all the help we can get to help cover his medical and funeral expenses, and anything helps. We appreciate all donations.
