In memory of James Marvie Hamilton
James Marvie Hamilton, known to many as Jim, was my first cousin and a deeply respected member of our family. Jim passed away in Los Angeles, California, from complications with cancer. He lived a remarkable life marked by intelligence, dedication, and accomplishment. Jim graduated from Palo Verde High School with honors, earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Loyola Marymount University with honors, and went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from UCLA with honors. During his studies, he obtained an internship with Hughes Aerospace and later became a senior scientist and group manager there. Jim was also a prolific inventor who obtained many patents, including systems used on NASA Space Shuttles. After leaving Hughes, he went on to invent the computer-controlled suspension system known as COAST for automobiles.
As Jim’s family prepares a graveside memorial service and burial to honor his life, we are facing the difficult reality of covering these final expenses. In the later part of his life, Jim faced serious personal struggles and did not have the financial resources available to provide for burial costs. This fundraiser has been created to help cover Jim’s burial and graveside memorial service expenses and to ease the burden on our family during this time of grief. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, would mean a great deal as Jim is laid to rest and his life is honored with dignity and love.
