Yesterday, my family suffered an unimaginable loss. Jalil Jones, a beloved son, brother, and active teen in our community, was tragically killed while trying to protect another young man who was attacked. Jalil’s bravery and compassion touched everyone who knew him, and his loss has left us devastated. This tragedy was sudden and unexpected, leaving our family unprepared for the costs and challenges that followed.

The funds will also help his family relocate to a safe home where they can begin to heal and recover from this traumatic event. Jalil had just started working with his uncle and was excited to get his driver’s permit, looking forward to new opportunities and a bright future. His life was cut short by gun violence, which continues to rob our youth of their childhood and their dreams.
