Two weeks ago, Isaac walked into the hospital with what seemed like only leg pain that had worsened overnight. None of us could have imagined that it would be the last time he’d walk through those doors.

While being evaluated, doctors discovered he had COVID-19 and a gallbladder infection. He was scheduled for surgery the next morning to have it removed, but overnight his oxygen levels dropped, and he was moved to the ICU. His wife was not allowed to stay the night with him, and though she called for updates throughout the night, he remained stable.

The next morning, the hospital called with the news no family ever wants to hear. Isaac had been found unresponsive, and doctors were performing CPR. They were able to bring his pulse back twice, but the lack of oxygen caused irreversible brain injury.

After three medical opinions, countless prayers, and unimaginable heartbreak, his family has made the painful decision to let him go peacefully and end his suffering.

Isaac is just 32 years old. His and Courtney’s story began over 15 years ago — two best friends who grew up to become soulmates, partners, and parents. They share a 7-year-old daughter who absolutely adores her dad and misses every moment they shared together. Losing someone so young and full of life is something no family can ever be prepared for.

Courtney has been by his side every day for the past two weeks, praying and holding on to hope. Now she faces not only the grief of losing her husband but also the financial strain of funeral expenses and the bills that continue to come.
