With broken hearts, we are asking for help after the tragic loss of Hector Meza, a beloved son, family member, and friend whose life was taken far too soon. On December 16, 2025, Hector was struck by a vehicle on the I-10 freeway near Vail City/Benson, Arizona. He was only 28 years old. This sudden catastrophe has left his family and loved ones in shock, grief, and unimaginable pain.
Hector was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Hector lived in Douglas along with his family. Throughout much of his life, he battled mental illness—struggles that no one chooses and that so many fight in silence. Despite these challenges, Hector was a good person with a kind heart. He showed compassion, love, and care for others even when he was hurting himself. He was more than his struggles—he was loved, he mattered, and his life had meaning.
Hector’s passing has created an overwhelming emotional and financial burden for his family, especially his mother, Mauri Tabitha Amaya. Mauri is a devoted caregiver in Douglas and Bisbee, Arizona. She cares for the elderly, including a 93-year-old Korean War veteran. Mauri now faces funeral and burial expenses, along with other unexpected costs, during the most heartbreaking time of her life. We are humbly asking for any support to help lay Hector to rest with dignity and love. No donation is too small, and sharing this page or keeping Hector’s family in your thoughts is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support as we honor Hector’s life and memory.
