I wanted to pop in and edit that since creating this fundraiser my papa has passed on. He took his final breath on 10/17/2025. Thank you everyone for sharing and donating. We’re doing our best to make all ends meet as the holidays come next week.

Gerald Phillips is my beloved grandfather, and our family is facing one of the hardest moments of our lives. Gerald has been living with dementia for several years, and he is now in hospice care with only a week or less left with us. Throughout his life, Gerald was a kind and gentle soul, but in recent years he has struggled to get by on a very limited income from social security. He has no savings or prepaid postmortem plans, and his final wish is for my mom to cremate him and take his ashes to Idaho to be buried with his mother.

We want to honor Gerald’s wishes and give him the peaceful farewell he deserves, but the costs are more than our family can manage alone. The funds raised will go directly toward his urn, cremation expenses, travel to and from Idaho, and the cost of interring his ashes with his mother. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us fulfill his last request and bring some comfort to our family during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you for anything and everything you can do to help. This isn’t an easy experience for anyone. Dementia is often called “the long goodbye,” but right now it feels like it’s not quite long enough. Your support means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.
