Hello everyone, my name is Theresa, the sister-in-law of Fred Jenkins. This GoFundMe is started with permission from Fred's eldest sister, Della. Most of you may have heard of the passing of our beloved father, brother, uncle, friend, skillful guitarist, musician, writer, and producer Fred Jenkins, "aka" Frederick Jenkins Bey, on March 24, 2025. Prior to his illness, Fred was a longtime Gap Band guitarist, who many years later became a band member of Rufus. His professional resume is extensive, having worked with and collaborated with many other well-known artists. Approximately 10 years ago, Fred's health started to decline, facing many physical challenges, first becoming an amputee, then a double amputee, but he never lost his hope. His faith was unwavering, and he maintained his trust in God and his love for music. His dedication to teaching and creating music while in a nursing home showed his passion and ability to inspire others. However, during these years, he was at the mercy of caregivers and nursing homes. It is our belief that he passed due to complications from an injury sustained at the home. We have been unable to locate any life insurance coverage documents or significant funds in his belongings to help cover all expenses. Friends, family, and music lovers who are inspired by talented musicians such as Fred Jenkins, we are asking for donations to help provide the additional necessities, such as printing obituaries, food for the Repast, flowers, airline tickets for his sister Della and her son who needs to accompany her, and any other related Memorial expenses. We are forever grateful for the love you extended towards Fred and the lifelong friendships that were developed. We are especially grateful and appreciative for the love and compassion you've shown us during this difficult time.
