Our family is heartbroken. We lost our beloved brother, Eric, here in Charlotte, NC, in a tragic and unexpected way.
He was found deceased in his home on October 29th and was not discovered until October 31st by his landlord, as he lived in a rooming house.
Our family was not notified until December 2nd, when the medical examiner contacted us via text message.
He had been deceased for 30 days and we did not know, as we were calling , texting, leaving voicemails and he was not responding to our communications.
It is considered a possible homicide, as his death is being investigated as we speak. The Landlord had his wallet until i picked it up from him, his roommate had his phone, but disposed of it before i could get it from him and his car was in the driveway of his home as he lay there deceased and now it is missing.
My work will continue for my little brother even after we lay his body to rest as it continues to decompose in the medical examiner's office because i will find out who did this to him with everything in me.
The shock and pain of losing Eric in this way has left a hole in our lives that can never be filled.
Eric was a US Navy Veteran who served as a Sonar Technician on a submarine for many years.
He was a father of one, and the light in every room—funny, protective, and kind to everyone he met.
Eric had a heart that gave even when he didn’t have much to give. He loved his family deeply, and anyone who knew him could feel his warmth and humor.
Losing him this way has been devastating, and we are struggling to come to terms with the pain of his loss.
We want to give Eric the peaceful farewell he deserves—to lay him to rest with dignity, surrounded by love.
He didn’t deserve to leave this world the way he did, and our family is doing our best to honor his memory.
We are now faced with the difficult responsibility of making funeral arrangements and giving Eric the peaceful farewell he deserves.
Unfortunately, we were not financially prepared for this loss.
The costs of his burial, transportation, and related expenses have become overwhelming for our family.
We are reaching out with humble hearts, asking for any support you can give—whether it is a donation or simply sharing this page.
Eric's story should not end with tragedy—it should be remembered with love, laughter, and light.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to laying him to rest and finding peace.
If you are unable to give financially, please share this page and keep our family in your prayers.
Eric’s life mattered. His laughter, his spirit, and the love he gave to others will never be forgotten.
We want to honor him properly, and with your support, we can.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your prayers during this heartbreaking time.
With love,
The Family of Eric Young
