My name is Rebecca and this is the last thing I wanted to do. Today, 10/23/25, my mother, Donna L. McLendon, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I spoke to her just a few short hours before. At 9pm I got a call from the hospital in Macon, GA to tell me that she had gone into cardiac arrest and unfortunately, could not be revived. I am utterly devastated as I live in NC and am unable to go right this second, my son’s senior night is this Friday. My mother did not have life insurance and I have to raise funds to get to GA, settle her affairs, pack up her apartment, find a home for her senior Boston terrier, and fulfill her last wish of being cremated. She has no family. Her mother, husband, and all her siblings have gone before her. Although I feel that it is much too soon to even discuss, I have no choice but to act now because as I was told “these things can’t wait.” Well, I just don’t want to. But for her, I will. Because I live in NC, these things will take a few days and because of that, I must also take off of work. I am asking for prayers and light, above all else. If you feel compelled to help, I thank you from the bottom of my very broken heart. My mother and I didn’t always see eye to eye, but forgiveness is everything and I’m so thankful that the last thing we said to one another was “I love you.” Her birthday was in exactly two weeks and I was planning to go see her soon. I’ll never have the chance again.
Hug your mamas tight. Go see her. Tell her you love her. The next second isn’t promised.
