My brother, Donald Lathrom, was 84 years old when he passed away on January 21, 2026, in a New York City hospital. He had been sick for a while, but I truly believed he was on the mend, so his passing was both shocking and disorienting. While we weren't always close growing up, the last few decades brought us together. We shared emails and phone calls, keeping each other updated about our lives. One of the most meaningful gifts he gave me was the discovery, through ancestry.com, that he had fathered a daughter decades ago while on vacation in London. That connection brought new meaning and joy to our family.
Two years ago Don's long lost daughter, Melina, and I met in New York. She came to meet the father she didn't know existed and I went to meet this newly discovered family member. Melina and I have become fast friends. She has two beautiful grown daughters, Lucinda and Rosalind, expanding our family by 3.
Now, I am facing the difficult task of arranging Donald's funeral. The expenses through Inpeace funeral home in New York are more than I can manage alone. Your support will help me give Donald the respectful farewell he deserves and bring some peace to our family during this challenging time.
It would mean a great deal to me and my family if you are able to help us in any amount to move forward with funeral arrangements. I thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
