We are reaching out to honor the life of David Jay Douglas, known to us all as DJ

​If you knew Dj, you knew he was the most loyal, honest and hard-loving person you’d ever meet. He didn’t play games and he didn’t hide who he was. His loyalty was his bond, and his love for his siblings was his greatest strength.​ To JJ, he was the baby brother who finally made it back home. To Jodi, he was the protective older brother she had waited so long to have by her side again. After nearly eight years in the pen, we finally got him back. We had just one month of freedom with him—one month of being a complete family again—before he was taken from us. To have him home for such a short time after years of waiting is a tragedy we are still trying to process.​We are now asking for the community’s help to give our brother the farewell he deserves. Because he had only been home for a few weeks, we were completely unprepared for the financial weight of a funeral and burial. We want to honor DJ’s life and the fierce love he had for all of us by laying him to rest properly.
