Our beloved father & grandfather David Vincent Rondero, Sr. went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of August 9, 2025 in Castle Rock, Colorado. He is survived by his children David Jr. (and wife Hannah), Danielle, and Deanna and his grandchildren Justin, Samuel, Noelle, Remy Lou, and Merilee Wonder – to whom he was lovingly known as “Papa David”. He is also survived by his eldest sister Virginia and her husband John, his brother in law Dan, several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his loving partner Sandra. David was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Cora Rondero, his older sister Patricia and his younger brother PJ.

David grew up in in East Side San Jose where he attended St. John Vianney Catholic school as a child and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1973, where he was a star football player. He became a born again Christian in the early 80’s and was a devout man of faith throughout his life. He started his career as a meat department clean up boy and worked over 30 years for Nob Hill Foods, where he ultimately became a District Manager and worked with and mentored many. After retiring he still desired to be of service and work directly with people, and he loved his part-time job at Whole Foods, where he worked up until his passing. He was a hard worker, and cared immensely about helping and serving others which made him a great teacher and leader.

David loved good food, some of his favorites being barbecuing and graham crackers as a late night snack. His love for music has been passed along to his children and grandchildren, some of his favorite artists include Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, The Spinners, Sade, and James Taylor. David also loved his favorite professional sports teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Athletics – he even worked at the Coliseum as an usher for a few seasons after he retired which he absolutely loved – and attending games with his family are some of the most cherished memories he leaves behind.

Memorial services are still pending. Remembrances may be made via the family’s GoFundMe. These funds will be utilized for the cost of his cremation, family travel, and future memorial services.
