Help Honor Cynthia's Courageous Journey
On Saturday, June 7th, 2025, my mother, Cynthia L. Watkins, lost her courageous 5-year battle with breast cancer. She was 71.
In her 50-year career, my mother always worked jobs helping people. She worked for non-profit organizations, then for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and Senate of Pennsylvania. After her retirement from the Senate in 2014, she worked for Dauphin County, and later as a receptionist for a retirement community.
When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, she took on that challenge as she had faced other challenges in life... with determination and her own brand of dry humor. Those who knew my mom got to know that sense of humor well.
She was a Steelers fan, and loved jazz, especially Brian Culbertson. She also enjoyed listening to the Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind, & Fire. Cindie also loved pets and was a long time cat owner.
My mom was a good neighbor, active and engaged community member, loyal friend, loving mother, and hard worker.
Unfortunately, after her breast cancer diagnosis, her life insurance was canceled.
I am attempting to raise funds to cover a basic cremation, small memorial service, and my travel expenses as I currently live out of state. Any additional funds will be used to clean and clear out her home and prepare it for sale.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
