Yesterday morning, my beloved cat Coconut passed away suddenly from heart failure caused by an enlarged heart. Coconut had never previously shown any health issues, and his heart problems and passing were so sudden. Earlier that day, I took Coconut to the vet because he was extremely lethargic. The vet gave him medication and assured me it would help, but Coconut continued to get worse as the day went on.

At 2am, Coconut went into heart failure. I rushed him to the only 24/7 ER vet near me, which is an hour away, but unfortunately, Coconut didn’t have an hour to spare. I held him as he passed, telling him I loved him and pleading with him to stay, to hold on a little longer. I tried CPR, but his final breath was taken while I was holding him, surrounded by love.

Losing Coconut has left a huge hole in our lives—he was more than just a pet; he was family. Now, we are left with outstanding vet bills and cremation costs that we simply can't afford. I want to give Coconut the memorial he deserves, including a nice urn and a special piece to remember him by, but these expenses are more than we can manage on our own.
