Billy Lewis Shellman, known to friends as Bill, was born in Hood River, Oregon, on April 14, 1955. He moved to Astoria, where he attended school and later married his wife, Pamela, in 1975. After serving in the Army, Bill spent time in Alaska, working many different jobs, but his favorite was being a hunting and fishing guide for ten years. In 2013, Bill returned to Astoria and reconnected with Pamela, and they were together until he passed away at home on December 4th, 2025.
Bill was a quiet, kind man with a love for sports—especially the Seattle Seahawks. He was passionate about photography, capturing many beautiful moments during his time in Alaska, and he also loved to paint, often watching Bob Ross on TV every day. Bill had a lifetime of stories and adventures, and he touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Pamela and Bill lived simply on social security, and Pamela now faces the challenge of honoring Bill's final wish: to be cremated and have his ashes taken up the Clatskanie River, where he spent many happy years fishing. Any support you can give will help Pamela fulfill this wish and give Bill the farewell he truly deserves. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
