Honey is a Pomeranian rescue who’s been my companion and family for the last 3 years. On February 16 during our routinely morning walk Honey was attacked by a large German Shepard who picked him up in his jaws, lifted him off the ground, and shook him back and forth, and then dropped him for dead. I grabbed honey and immediately rushed him to the nearest VCA hospital where they wouldn’t even examine him without requiring money up front. Afterwards they required a deposit of an additional $8,000 to begin with the surgery. During the surgery they called to say it would be a more extensive procedure than they originally thought and would require more money. After the surgery further funds were required to keep him in the ICU at the hospital where he needed a blood transfusion on top of medication and intensive care in hopes that he would survive.

 Honey was only cleared to leave the hospital a few days ago at which time the cost so far amounts to $18,000. He will require post operative visits to the hospital for follow up and I don’t know how much that will cost but the hospital policy at VCA has been to not treat him until being paid first. In order to pay the cost of care thus far I have emptied my bank account, taking out loans I can’t afford to pay off, and had to sign a promissory note to cover the remainder which I will need to begin paying on March 20th. I don’t know how I will cover the cost of this treatment and any additional costs that may come. Asking for help isn’t the most comfortable thing but in this situation Honey and I are very desperate. Wether it is a donation or helping spread the message any support is greatly appreciated and could go a long way.
