Help Honey fight kidney disease

Dear Friends,

My name is Soumya Jayaraj and I am here to tell you about Honey (my handsome, goofy, loving cat).

Honey is all I have – all I have in this world to call my own. He is everything to me and what keeps me going after I lost my Dad last August. Dad was my sole family apart from Honey.

Since last April when my Dad fell ill, my life turned upside down. After losing Dad in August, the one thought that has haunted me is that “I do not have anyone of my own.” It is not a good place to be and whatever you tell yourself, at the end of the day that thought haunts you. However much I tried to move on and do things and occupy myself I have not been able to shake it off. I am a pretty stoic person yet this last year almost broke me. The one soul that kept me going and sane, made me happy, and smile through the tears is Honey.

Honey was a stray that decided to enter my life about 7 years ago. He lives pampered to the hilt, rules his roost with the typical cat attitude, and gets me to easily honor all his cute little likes and demands. Honey has been diagnosed with kidney disease and is currently admitted. I am not in a position financially to provide the care he needs. My father’s illness took a toll not only on his health but also on our family's finances.

Kidney disease for cats requires continuous care and apart from this current admission will require regular vet visits, medications, and a special diet. He is a fighter, just like me, and is doing his best to hang in there. I have to fight for Honey and give him the best chance I can and I cannot do this alone. I need your help to make this happen – to give him a fair chance.

The initial estimate by the hospital for 3 days of hospitalization including tests, medications, and fluids is $4000. Keeping in mind extra costs and ongoing care that would be required along with a specialized diet I have set a goal of $7000.

I cannot imagine losing Honey and truthfully, I am not equipped psychologically to go through another loss. I humbly request you to help ensure I get to hold my companion close for as long as I can. I will not be able to forgive myself if I do not try my best and that is all I am trying to do. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness.

Please keep Honey in your thoughts and prayers.

Much love,

Soumya Jayaraj
