Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Pilar Gomez and I am fundraising for a Honduran family of 5 that was affected by Hurricane Ida. They are good friends of ours and members at the church where I attend.

As we all saw on the news, residents of Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, experienced the flash flooding of the Schuylkill River on September 1st. The Flores-Juanez family lives close to the river and lost everything from clothing and furniture to home appliances. Their entire first floor was underwater in a matter of hours. They were only able to take a few items when they were rescued.

Unfortunately, they were not able to pay for full coverage on their car insurance, so now they are without their cars, and that is their most urgent need. The parents and their nephew are not able to work if they don't have transportation, their daughter is a commuter in college, and they have an 8 year old son.

This hard-working, immigrant family will basically have to start from zero again. They have experienced so much loss in their family recently because Leidi (the mom) lost her grandmother and youngest sister a few weeks ago in Honduras.

Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para leer esto. Mi nombre es Pilar Gómez y cree esta página para ayudar a la familia Flores Juanez. Es una familia Hondureña de 5 personas que fue afectada por el huracán Ida. Son amigos nuestros y miembros de la Iglesia a donde asisto. 

Como todos vimos en las noticias, los residentes de Bridgeport, Pensilvania, sufrieron la inundación del Río Schuylkill el primero de septiembre durante el Huracán Ida. La familia Flores-Juanez vive cerca del Río y perdieron desde ropa y muebles, hasta aparatos electrónicos de la casa. Su primer piso se inundó por completo en cuestión de horas. Solo pudieron sacar algunas cosas cuando los rescataron. 

Desafortunadamente ellos no podían pagar una cobertura completa para sus carros, así que ahora no los tienen y esa es su necesidad más urgente. Los padres, Leidi y Filadelfo, al igual que el sobrino, necesitan su carro para ir a trabajar, la hija lo necesita para ir a la universidad y también tienen un niño de 8 años.

Esta familia inmigrante y trabajadora tendrá que empezar de zero. Además han experimentado mucha perdida recientemente porque la abuelita y hermana menor de Leidi murieron hace unas semanas en Honduras.
