Help for Homeless Man in Austin, TX
Donation protected
Hello all.
My name is Lori, and I am from Sacramento, California. I have started this fundraiser for Joseph Wayne Nicholas, a homeless man who has been living under a bridge (1-35) in Austin, Texas whose belongings were set on fire and destroyed by the riots and violent protests. While they all cheered and laughed, Joseph desperately tried to save whatever he can.
Although I live many states away, i felt it was my duty to start this page and try and reach out for him. I didn't know him, nor have any contact with him, but my search started with the Austin Police Department. With many helpful tips and resources from APD, locals recognizing the area in the video, HOST (Homeless outreach street team) and friends from the Austin community with the same goal as mine to find him, we were able to track him down and get him the help he needs.
I plan to withdraw the money, and send it directly to Josephs account where he is the only one with access to the funds, and with the $5800 already raised, we hope to get Joseph off the streets and into a permanent home where he can ultimately restart his life.
Joseph has been gifted a phone and I'm able to reach out to him directly. He is well and happy and very grateful for all that has happened. We have reached our goal of $5000 and the support is just amazing, i have decided to keep the fundraiser going until Joseph's housing is situated and his account is ready for the deposit.
Thank you all for your generosity and kindness, and also helping support this campaign and trusting me to get the funds directly to Joseph. It truly has been a heartwarming and humble experience thus far.
