When I think of my dear friend Holly I think of a Mother Tree. An old soul, humbly going about her work with stillness and reverence. Deeply connected to the earth, always leaning into the light, and networked in a quiet, unseen way to countless other people—to whom she selflessly offers nourishment, compassion, healing, and hope.
Recently, Holly received a breast cancer diagnosis. In the coming weeks, she will undergo a double mastectomy. Her treatment and recovery path will be long and difficult. She and her children have been devastated by this news.
If you know Holly well, you’ll recognize that this is by no means the first heartrending trial she and her family have passed through. But with each wave of sorrow, she has dug deeper roots, opened her heart ever wider, reached for her Heavenly parents, and somehow found the strength to carry on. And though she is facing this new challenge with her hallmark courage and grace, she will not be able to survive this alone.
Today, we are asking you to turn your heart toward Holly and help us hold her up as she faces this terrifying trial. This is an opportunity for all of us—family, friends, clients, and community—to surround her with love, encouragement, and support.
Holly’s business is not only her passion, but her primary source of income, through which she supports her children. During the 3-6 months she will need to be away from work, her significant financial responsibilities will continue, while healthcare expenses pile up.
We’ve created this GoFundMe campaign to relieve some of the overwhelming financial burden she is facing. It’s imperative that Holly be able to focus on healing without the crushing stress of wondering how she will pay her rent, bring home groceries, or cover her medical bills.
Please consider giving to help cover Holly’s essential living expenses, medical bills, travel expenses for surgeries, appointments, and treatments, holistic therapies to support healing, and day-to-day needs during recovery.
If you can give generously, please do so. Your generosity will be so gratefully received. But even if you can’t give much, every contribution—a small donation, a share, a prayer, or a message of encouragement—will help Holly know that she is not alone.
Holly’s compassion, skill, love, and care have touched each of our lives in some way. Please send some of that love and care back to her now, when she needs it the very most.
Let’s gather around this wise and wonderful woman, shelter her from this storm, and see her back to thriving once again.
With deep gratitude,
Shaylyn Romney Garrett
