Help Holly R. through Housing Transition

My name is Jenn. I am posting this fundraiser on behalf of one of my favorite human beings in this world. Funds raised will go directly to Holly R. to help her through a difficult moment.

I have known Holly for more than 7 years. She is a singular and talented librarian, beloved educator and friend to the children and families of Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley. I have never, in a lifetime in the field of education, met a librarian or educator as loving, patient, creative, thorough, dynamic and devoted.

In addition, Holly has been extremely loyal to our community, even at her own expense, as the salary of a children's librarian in Poughkeepsie does not make the bills for a single mom, and other regions pay more. She stayed here after some advocacy, when an offer came and went out of town at a slightly higher rate.

How painful that our society does not pay our educators who help raise the next generation, nor many working professionals, with enough means to afford housing in the Hudson Valley.

Through COVID, Holly took into her own apartment , two young people who needed housing.

Now it is our turn to be there for Holly.

She must abruptly leave her apartment, as she cannot afford it.

While looking for housing, Holly is also paying tuition for her child who is in the last few semesters of college. If she does not make that payment, her child will have to suspend her studies.

As Holly attempts to find and relocate affordable housing, we as her village are fundraising for the moving costs, deposits, and her child's college tuition.

If you have something to give, I hope you'll consider a contribution to help afford this housing transition so that she lands on her feet with less fear and stress, feeling supported by our community.

I hope we can return the love she has selflessly and consistently given to us, our children and the community as a whole.

Holly is much deserving of a soft landing.
