Holly and her two boys, Kai and Reef, along with their two dogs, have always called the north shore of Hawaii home. Last night, their lives were turned upside down when a sudden flood swept through their rental house. The fire department arrived at 12:30 in the morning and evacuated Holly and the kids with no time to gather any of their belongings. Everything they owned was left behind, and today, they have nowhere to go.

As Holly’s parent, I’ve done what I can to help by paying for a few days at the army barracks, but the road ahead is uncertain. Holly, Kai, and Reef are facing the overwhelming task of starting over from scratch—finding a safe place to stay, replacing the essentials, and trying to bring some stability back into their lives after such a traumatic event.

I wish I did not have to ask for help, but right now, Holly and her boys need the support of our community more than ever.
