Help Holly & Chris Weather this Storm

Just the other night, the Travis' home experienced significant damage when a pipe on the 3rd floor of their house burst and a large flow of water covered the upstairs, and traveled to the middle and lower levels (there is a new apartment located in the lower level, where Holly's mom is living.) The damage is vast, and significant mold has already begun to grow. Sheetrock is destroyed on each of the floors, ceilings have caved in, light fixtures were inundated with water, and several personal effects were lost as a result. A company has been called in to begin the extensive work, which involves moving everything out of the house and into storage, extensive demo - right down to the studs - and rebuilding much of the inside. They are currently staying in a hotel, and were told that they should expect 6-8 weeks before they'll be able to move back into their place. This is definitely a huge blow to Chris, Holly and Edyn! Although insurance will cover much of this expense, it certainly can't fix the emotional toll this has taken on the family.

It's left them trying to juggle so many different things. There is the immediate-out-of-pocket expense of the hotel, as well as meals and other needed items. The hotel they're staying at right now does not have a kitchen, so most meals are eaten out, or ordered in. There are also several items that are not salvageable as a result of the flood. The insurance company is expected to connect with them at some point about a bit more 'permanent' location to stay, until the place is finished; however, they're not sure exactly what that will be, and are expected to remain in their current hotel for at least another week and a half.

I'm hoping that we might come alongside of the family, as they try to pick up the pieces and get through these next few weeks. And, those of us who are parents can only imagine the struggle to keep things somewhat 'normal' for a small child in the midst of all of this! Added to that, is the care that Holly's mom requires. So, let's walk beside them and lift them up as they try to navigatge these next few months, I know it will mean the world to both Chris and Holly!
