Help Holly Calvin in her Battle Against Cancer

Dear Friends and Families ~
It is with heavy hearts that we share this news with all of you. Our dear beautiful friend, Holly Robbins Calvin, was diagnosed with stage 4 tongue cancer in June of this year. Her journey since then has been fraught with one life-threatening obstacle after another. However, in true Holly form, she faced the devastating diagnosis head-on, and started chemotherapy in early July. Unfortunately, the cancer metastasized to her neck and lymph nodes. The surgeon deemed the cancer inoperable due to the amount of removal that it would require, including her tongue and one side of her jaw and neck. The only hope for survival was for the intense course of chemotherapy to shrink the aggressive cancer cells.
The first dose of chemo left her violently ill and put her in the intensive care unit for several days. The chemo seemed to cause more harm than good, and for a while the physicians were certain she wasn't going to make it. By nothing short of a miracle, the chemo kicked into gear and began shrinking the cancer. After five grueling weeks of recovery and rehabilitation, Holly was discharged back home to begin her second round of chemotherapy. Although terrified, Holly succumbed to the second dose with unmatched bravery and extraordinary spirit. Unwavering faith, hope, and perseverance, Holly is an inspiration to many - she is the epitome of strength, gentle kindness, beauty, and love.
Since being home, Holly's husband and children have been providing around the clock care. Their steadfast dedication to her recovery and well-being is astounding. Now that the kids are back in school and her husband back at work, Holly needs skilled nursing support in the home for several hours during the day. These expenses, in addition to all the other medical expenses that accompany cancer treatment, will continue to pile up as the course of treatment ensues.
We set up this fundraising page for the Calvin family to help relieve the financial burden of the mounting medical expenses. Believe us, it took a great deal of convincing to get the Calvin's to agree to the idea of asking for help. Even in the midst of the storm, their main concern was not to burden others. Well friends, for those of us who know the Calvin's, they're the ones always giving to others, hosting the events, picking up the tab, and giving time and money to other people's causes. Indeed, we are so very joyful for the opportunity to help the Calvin's in their great time of need.
