So I didn’t think we would be here again, but my boy Holden has been going through it!

Back in May, he started slowing down. My vet said he probably has arthritis, so at her suggestion, we tried an arthritis injectable called Librela. He had two injections, one in the middle of May and one in the middle of June. By the beginning of July, he was unable to stand on his back left leg.

Long story short, after three sets of X-rays, two joint taps, and three different specialty clinics, they came to tell me they think he had an adverse reaction to the Librela, which caused rapid joint degeneration, with the worst being specifically in his back left leg.

Now we’re talking about his left leg joint looking like that of a 15-year-old dog, versus back in May when he had hardly any arthritis in that leg. I actually have the X-rays, and you can see the massive bone progression from July 12 to July 27.

Due to this ridiculously fast progression of degenerative bone in the leg they also possibly suspected bone cancer, so I can say it’s been a crazy whirlwind of grief and anxiety for me and a painful 2 1/2 months for Holden.

I hate to say it, but I’ve already spent around $7,000 just in testing, and then the vets turn around and tell me there’s nothing they can do. It’s just old age. It’s just degenerative arthritis.

Well I refuse to accept that.

I have found another specialty orthopedic surgeon who suggests that we fuse the joint in that leg, and it should solve his issues and bring back his mobility. As a lot of you know, he had the same surgery in his right leg back in 2018.

The surgery is going to cost somewhere between $7,800 and $10,000, and as much as I hate to ask for help, I will humble myself to beg for money from my friends and family to save my dog.

If you know Holden, you know he is the happiest, goofiest, sweetest boy, always hungry, always smiley, maybe trying to bite a puppy or two.

Please help me save my son and get him up and walking again.
