Hi. My name is Fatimeh and I’m a student. My 5 month-old German short haired puppy was hit by a car on 9/17 Tuesday evening while I was on campus studying for an exam.

He sustained many injuries including head trauma, pneumothorax, hemothorax, lung contusions, fractured pelvis and fluid in his abdomen. He has been struggling to breathe for the past 2 days due to the bleeding in his lungs. He has had multiple blood transfusions and has been kept in an oxygen chamber to help him breathe.

They managed to stop the bleeding in his chest without surgery but his lungs are still very bruised.

Today 9/20 Friday I got some good news that he isn’t requiring oxygen anymore and his blood level are holding up. He will require pelvic surgery to fix the fracture, once his lungs get a little better. For now, he seems to be on the healing path but is still in the ICU.

Hobbes (named after ‘Calvin and Hobbes’) is the sweetest puppy one could ask for. I named him after Hobbes because he loves to pounce on everything and everyone and loves to sneak attack. He is shy to begin with but very mischievous once he’s out of his shell. Loves to play with kids and other dogs any time of the day or night. I know he is strong and will make it through these injuries.

His hospital bills are piling up and his insurance has covered just a small fraction. We are 20K in debt in bills and his surgery for the pelvic fracture is going to be another 10K. His other medical costs and hospital stay after his surgery will pile on top of that. I am humbly asking for help to pay for Hobbes costs even if it’s just a dollar. Anything will help to get our strong baby boy back on to his 4 feet and live a happy, strong and boisterous life.
