Help Historic Building in DeRuyter

The 7th Day Baptist Church has been part of the architectural fabric of the Village of DeRuyter for over two centuries. In the late 1990s, facing sale and deconstruction for removal and reassembly out of state, the local Tromptown Historical Society (THS) took on purchasing the building to keep the quaint street scape intact and has worked since then to generate funds for its renovation and re-use. THS is a small volunteer organization with 501(c)(3) status that also maintains another historical building (former bank, now museum). This building is on the NYS/National Register of Historic Places and was on the Madison County (NY) 2006 Bicentennial Freedom and Architectural Heritage Trails https://www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/sites/default/files/planning/ArchitectureTrailforweb.pdf
Time is critical to carefully remove the two top tiers of the steeple, stablize the roof and prepare the building to stay through another cny winter season while we continue to explore ways to best utlize the building. Without this work the steeple is in jeopardy of creating additional injury to the rest of the building that may require demolition of the structure.
The interior of the building features original plaster and decorative painting, original stained glass, a balcony surrounding the sides & back of the space - acoustically top-notch.
Our local group has rebuilt a foundation wall, stripped, repaired and painted the original two front doors, and painted a large amount of the body of the building. The building has been utilized for kids classes, yoga, musical events, community and private gatherings. We hope to stabilize it further and engage for better & more use that will help to continue restoration and maintenance.
We need your help to stabilize the building for this winter!!! Without our financial goal reached by 11/15/2016 we have to move forward with Plan B.
Please don't let this incredibly unique architectural gem disappear because of a steeple/roof job.
