Hi there!
This June, in a teacher exchange made possible by Book Bag Tours, we're visiting the AMAZING HIP School (HIP Africa Organization) for collaboration, fellowship, teaching, and FUN with our Kenyan educator peers and their students. Located in the Western rural parts of Kenya, Mukuyuni, this incredible school and community-based organization provides so much for the 130 kiddos schooled there. In addition to the learning center, HIP has a kitchen garden, provides accessible drinking water for more than 400 households, Information and Communication Tech, and community based education.
Ahead of our visit, we asked what the school could use the most. Mr. Livingston Kegode, the site director, said they're most in need of new kitchen storage. Currently, when it rains (often in the rainy seasons) all the food gets wet and ruined. For about $2,500, they can completely remedy this problem! The teachers we're travelling with are bringing food, educational supplies, and more, but we'd love it if our local communities can help this special community in Kenya. We are no strangers to relying on communities when our own schools are in need. Let's extend that goodwill to our friends in Mukuyuni!
