Help Hina get the emergency care she needs

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Grace, and I’m reaching out on behalf of myself and Richard, Hina’s dad. We are raising funds to cover the costs of Hina’s emergency surgeries, overnight hospitalizations, and ongoing post-op care. All costs MUST be payed upfront. So far, these costs have totaled $16,350. This amount should be most of the final cost, but does not include an anticipated reconstruction surgery (~$2000) and additional post-op care Hina will require dependent on her healing process($2000-3000). ALL donated funds will go towards Hinas medical bills.

About Hina:
Hina is our beloved 3-year-old Shiba Inu, and she has been with us since she was just 7 weeks old. She’s spunky, very opinionated, and too smart for her own good.. aka Shiba Inu poster child.

Things Hina disproves:
Baths, Wiping her paws, Her harness, Going to the vet
If you want to wipe her paws you have to catch her first …

What happened:
On the night of July 29th, Hina was severely bitten by a larger dog. We rushed her to critical care, where she received scans, IV drips, stitches, drainage inserts, medication, and an overnight stay. Although she was discharged the next morning, her condition worsened. Her skin and muscles began to die off, putting her at high risk for sepsis, which led to a second emergency surgery on July 31st.

We were informed on August 1st that Hina had developed a deep systemic bacterial infection. She would need more future surgery, extended post-op care, and potentially more hospitalization. For now we needed to keep bringing her to the clinic for daily bandage changes and wound management. On august 2nd, the surgical clinic recommended a several day hospitalization. Hina required not only the daily bandage changes, but also multiple medications, and she was not eating or drinking any water. She needed professional care to help administer her meds, IV fluids, and constant watch. We brought her in that evening to an urgent care to receive the necessary daily care for her recovery.

As of August 3rd, we received encouraging news: Hina took her first bites of food and first short walk around since the incident, which gives us hope for her continued recovery.

 Recovery Timeline:
Hina’s recovery timeline is still uncertain due to the risk of infection and post-op complications. The vet is optimistic that with proper care, Hina has a good chance of recovery, which could take roughly 6 weeks, depending on her healing progress.
We will constantly update her recovery process.
Keep fighting Hina !!

 Our Appeal:
We are committed to giving Hina the care she needs to recover fully, but the unexpected upfront costs are frankly overwhelming.

Before this incident, Hina was a healthy, vibrant part of our family, and we were looking forward to many more years with her. She has brought so much joy and laughter into our lives, and we want to do everything possible to ensure she has a long, healthy life. We deeply appreciate any donations you can make to help cover these critical costs. Even if you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this post would mean the world to us. Thank you for your kindness and support.

With gratitude,
Grace & Richard
