Help Hillary pay non-medical and medical bills

Hello, My name is Whitney (Uhler) Cox. My sister Hillary Uhler has been battling mystery illnesses for 23 years. This last year she finally received some answers. She has multiple congenital vascular defects and also learned she does not produce the enzyme sucrase to digest sugar. The vascular defects or abnormalities are quite rare and even more rare in women. One of the vascular defects had to do with her liver and her legs. This is what she had surgery for recently.

On November 9th she went into surgery to receive 3 stents to resolve the congenital defect. The surgery was successful and she felt optimistic about her future health improving. There is a 20% of the surgery failing in the first 5 years afterwards. Unfortunately, Hillary's failed much sooner than that. The week of Thanksgiving she started experiencing swelling and pain in her legs. On November 30th she went in for a CT scan and a followup appointment. They discovered that all of her stents were full of blood clots. She spent the day having multiple tests and being observed by doctors. On December 1st she had surgery to attempt to clear the clots. She was sedated and intubated overnight to prevent her from moving and giving the medication time to break up the clots. The next day she had another surgery. They used a machine to clear the remaining clots and added 5 more stents.

Hillary was then put on heparin to help prevent her blood from clotting. She developed a rare and dangerous reaction to the heparin called HIT or heparin induced thrombocytopenia. This happens in less than 1% of patients that receive this medication. Her blood went from clotting too much to not clotting. She was bleeding internally. The bleeding and lack of circulation was so bad in her right hand/arm there was discussion of possible amputation. The doctors stopped heparin and waited on her body to respond to start produce platelets again. Twenty-four hours later Hillary was on another medication to prevent clots and discharged to go home. She went from nearly dying to being home with family. Hillary is now considered a medical zebra; meaning expect the rare with her.

We are thankful for the doctors. Most of all we are thankful for God preserving her life.

Hillary is currently recovering at our mom's house. She is unable to be at her own home due to the amount stairs. Because of her surgery in November she only worked 10 days that month. She is taking the month of December off to recover and will work limited hours in January. As a small business owner, if she does not work she does not make money. Hillary has an unknown amount of medical bills coming, limited to no income and she still needs to pay rent for her condo and salon. There are also unknown future expenses if she needs to change her living situation to one with limited or no stairs. Please help in any way you can to raise funds to cover her medical bills and her current and future living expenses. Thank you for kindness and help.

This is Hillary after her first surgery feeling optimistic.
