Hershey has been my little doggy for almost 13 years, and he’s truly like my little baby. After I moved out on my own, he was the only family I had for a while, always by my side and keeping me active. Recently, while I was spending time with my brother and sister-in-law—who I hadn’t seen in months—and while my boyfriend was working-an accident happened at home and Hershey got out and was hit by a car.

The emergency vet visit and medications right after were a huge financial strain, and now Hershey needs surgery to repair his left elbow, which is broken and won’t heal without it. The surgery is estimated to be very expensive($5,000-$6,000) and I’m doing everything I can to make sure he gets the care he needs. As a student supported by my boyfriend, these costs are overwhelming, but I’m determined to help Hershey recover and keep being the loving, active companion he’s always been.
