Operation Pacific Tribute - Honoring Our Liberators

Donation protected
Join us in honoring two brave heros as they retrace their steps and return to the Philippines for the 80th Anniversary of Manila's Liberation!

We are raising funds to help two WWII veterans, John Hodges and Arthur Grabiner, travel to the Philippines for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Manila - one of the largest urban battles fought by American forces, which ultimately led to the city's liberation from Japanese occupation and later to the independence of the Philippines. These remarkable men served their country with distinction during this brutal battle and deserve to be honored for their sacrifices.

Meet the Veterans:
• John Hodges: A U.S. Army veteran (101 years old) who fought in New Guinea and the Philippines, Hodges experienced the horrors of combat firsthand. His bravery and resilience during the Luzon Campaign are a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
• Arthur Grabiner: A U.S. Navy veteran (99 years old) who served aboard the USS Laurens, Grabiner faced the dangers of enemy fire and kamikaze attacks in the Pacific. He continues to inspire younger generations with his stories of courage and service.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Journey:
John Hodges and Arthur Grabiner, the only known living U.S. WWII veterans attending the Battle of Manila anniversary, will travel to the Philippines from February 16th to 24th, 2025. Their journey will begin with a special arrival ceremony at Manila International Airport, followed by an itinerary filled with poignant and meaningful events such as:

• International WWII Conference: Academic discussions and presentations at the Lyceum of the Philippines University.
• Historical Site Visits: Tour Intramuros, including the Manila Internment Camp and Santo Tomas University.
• Commemorative Ceremonies: Participate in the "Memorare Manila 1945" at the Manila American Cemetery, where the largest number of fallen U.S. veterans were laid to rest during WWII. This significant event is expected to be attended by high-level dignitaries, including Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
• Cultural Immersion: Attend the Gala Premiere of "Children of the War," a documentary film about the Battle of Manila, at the historic Metropolitan Theater.

Why is this trip important?
This journey will provide these veterans with a unique opportunity to:
• Reconnect with history: Visit the battlegrounds and pay respects to their fallen comrades.
• Express gratitude: To the Filipino people for their support during the war.
• Share their stories: With younger generations, ensuring that the lessons of WWII are never forgotten.

We need your help to make this dream a reality!
$38,000 is needed to cover the costs of:
• First-class round-trip airfare: For the veterans, their two family escorts, and nurse.
• Hotel accommodations: Throughout their stay in the Philippines.
• Ground transportation: To and from events and activities.
• Meals: During their entire trip.

Let's show these American heroes our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Please donate today and help these two men experience a truly unforgettable and meaningful journey back to the Philippines. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
