At 86 years old, my mother Herminia should be living her days in comfort, surrounded by love and peace. Instead, she is facing a painful and life-threatening battle: oral cancer. Herminia was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the right buccal mucosa, a form of cancer affecting the inner lining of her cheek. Doctors have found three painful lumps in her mouth—two at the bottom and one in the center—making it extremely difficult for her to eat, speak, and even rest comfortably. Every meal has become a painful struggle. She is slowly losing the ability to nourish herself, and without urgent medical intervention, her condition may worsen.
Herminia lives in the Philippines and comes from very limited means. She has no steady income, no pension, and depends entirely on her children for daily survival such as food, care, and basic needs. On top of her cancer diagnosis, she also suffers from cataracts, leaving her with poor vision and making it even harder to care for herself. Despite her age and condition, my mother still has hope. She wants a chance to undergo surgery, relieve her pain, and extend her life so she can spend more time with her loved ones.
Our family is reaching out with a humble heart to ask for help. Watching my mother suffer and not being able to afford the care she needs is a pain no child should endure. Your donation, no matter how small, can help cover urgent surgery to remove the cancer, hospital and medical expenses, medications and follow-up care, and nutritional support during recovery. Herminia is not just fighting cancer, she is fighting for comfort, dignity, and more time with our family. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing her story. Your prayers, support, and generosity can make a life-changing difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
