My name is Ashton Hand, and I am a full-time student, double majoring in K-12 Physical Education and Spanish FLC. I am involved in several leadership roles, including Shape America's MWD, PEM Club, and Unified Sports. I am most passionate about advocating for education in every way possible. I am raising funds for my beautiful and loving cat named Hercules. He is now four years old, and I took him in from the outdoors when he was just a baby. Hercules has struggled with urinary blockages for most of his life, and I have tried everything to fix this for him. After countless vet visits and another urinary blockage, I finally discovered the problem. Hercules has a urethra that is four times smaller than a normal male cat's urethra. Because his urethra is so small and he creates crystallization in his urine, without this procedure, he will constantly have urinary blockages, which can be fatal, and he will be in discomfort for the rest of his life. I am raising money because Hercules needs a perineal urethrostomy, which can cost up to and over 4,000 dollars, and as a full-time college student who lives off campus, I cannot pay that much money after a 2,300-dollar emergency surgery and an 800-dollar surgery within the past month. I am always reluctant to ask for help, but I could never imagine a life without my best friend, Hercules. If you find the kindness in your heart to donate, I will forever be thankful.
