Hercules, or Herk as we call him, has been a beloved member of our family since we rescued him from a shelter three years ago. He came to us after being hit by a car, and despite his rough start, he quickly found his forever home with us. Herk is a loyal protector, always watching over our family of five, and he especially loves playing with his human brother and sister. His gentle spirit and resilience have made him an irreplaceable part of our lives.

Recently, Herk has faced a new challenge. The metal rod in his leg, placed there after his accident, has started to push through his skin over the past couple of weeks. Our local vet is unable to help with the hardware, and the only option is a specialist nearly two hours away. The exposed rod and screw put Herk at serious risk for infection, and he’s been in increasing discomfort—licking and biting at the injury, and sometimes avoiding putting weight on his leg. We’re deeply concerned about his pain and the possibility of further complications if the hardware isn’t removed soon.

This surgery is critical for Herk’s well-being. With the rod and screw removed and proper healing, we hope he can return to his playful, happy self—running around the yard, playing with the kids, and living pain-free.
