Last Tuesday, Hercules — our beloved 11-year-old pit — collapsed suddenly on a walk. Lizzie, his best friend, didn’t hesitate for a second. She scooped all 75lbs of him in her arms and carried him all the way home. She rushed him straight to the emergency vet.
After 10 agonizing hours in the ER and over $1,000 in costs, she was told the only clear issue was dehydration. Despite CT scans and thorough tests, nothing else could explain what we were seeing — except perhaps a seizure, as one of the blood vessels in his eye had burst. Still, no solid answers.
Yesterday, June 19th, Lizzie tried to bring Hercules in again as his condition has worsened. He’s weak, unstable on his feet, unable to hold water, and simply not himself. But the soonest the ER could see him would be in 10–12 hours, and the cost just to be seen would be over $400 — more than manageable on our own right now.
Hercules isn’t just a pet. He’s Lizzie’s companion, protector, and a piece of her heart — and her daughter’s. Lizzie is a devoted single mom doing everything she can to keep her family afloat, but the weight of these unexpected and ongoing medical bills is simply too much to carry alone.
We don’t know what’s happening to Hercules, but we do know this: he deserves to be comfortable, cared for, and loved through this chapter — whatever it brings. We’re asking for your help to cover his medical bills so Lizzie can focus on what matters: making sure Hercules is safe and supported.
Even the smallest donation helps. If you can’t give, please share — it means the world to us!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Lizzie, her daughter, and Hercules
