On February 9th at around 10:45 pm, my daughter's life was forever changed. She was 4 minutes from her house when a drunk, uninsured driver hit another car and plowed into my daughter, who was the passenger in her vehicle. The drunk driver crossed the median and hit my daughter head-on, causing her to shatter her pelvis and break her femur. My daughter desperately tried to call 911, but due to the Super Bowl chaos, she couldn't get through. A good Samaritan pulled her out of the car, and there she laid, crying for help in pain. The driver that hit her was not injured. That driver was intoxicated and hid bottles of liquor that she and her passengers had in the vehicle. If that wasn't enough, she attempted to take my daughter's phone to prevent her from getting help. My daughter laid on the ground, cold, disoriented, and scared. She called me after not being able to get the police, afraid for her life. She was only able to tell me she was on Cheltenham Ave. She was able to tell me she couldn't feel her legs and she was afraid the driver that hit her and the people she was with were going to hurt her to cover up the accident. You can't imagine what that call felt like.
My daughter has had to undergo a 10-hour surgery to put her pelvis back together. She is paralyzed in her right leg still and has limited use in both hands. There is a long recovery ahead, and we don't know the outcome. I am asking for help for her uncovered medical expenses and recovery. Please know that anything you give will go towards providing the best possible care for her to recover.
