My dear friend Marina , is recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
I’m sharing this on her behalf, because asking for help is not something that comes easily to her.
After being hit by a car while walking her pup, her life and capacities changed overnight. Although her doctors expect a full recovery, she spent nearly two months in the hospital and is now facing a long, slow, and often invisible healing process. Her recovery is expected to take about six months, during which she is medically unable to work and must focus on treatment and rehabilitation.
To be very clear, the driver who hit her carried only the legal minimum insurance. As a result, she will not receive a meaningful insurance payout, despite common assumptions that situations like this lead to large settlements. Most of her medical and living expenses will not be covered.
For years, she has dedicated her professional life as a therapist to expanding access to compassionate, culturally responsive mental health care—often serving communities that are under-resourced and overlooked. Now, during a time when she cannot care for others in the ways she’s used to, she needs care herself.
Support will help cover medical care, therapies, medications, and basic needs like rent, groceries, and transportation—so she can focus on healing rather than survival. Any contribution or share truly helps.
Thank you for holding her with care during this tender chapter.
