What was supposed to be a simple journey home turned into a life-changing emergency.

Melanie is an OFW Nurse in Saudi Arabia, while in transit in Qatar during a layover on her way back to the Philippines, she went into emergency CS as she experienced signs of eclampsia, thus the baby was born prematurely- far from home, family and support. Instead of boarding a flight home, she found herself in a neonatal intensive care unit, praying for her tiny daughter to survive.

Baby Qatarina was born fragile and fighting - and doctors soon discovered she has a serious heart condition that requires specialized medical care. (See Medical Abstract). Due to her baby’s condition and extreme prematurity, they were forced to remain in Qatar for more than two months while she received critical treatment just to become stable enough to travel. After weeks of fear, uncertainty, and mounting medical needs, mother and daughter were finally cleared to return to the Philippines. But their journey is far from over.

Baby Qatarina still urgently needs heart surgery — a procedure that could save her life and give her the chance to grow up healthy and strong. Unfortunately, the cost of operation would be around Php 400,000.00 (£5,000) excluding the medications, follow-up care and hospital stays, and it’s way beyond what their family can afford. They’ve ran through their savings and doing everything they can but the time is not on their side.
