Help Henry's Surgery Costs
Hey guys, my name is Koine and I am starting this GoFundMe to help out my best friend Valentina, her boyfriend Tyler and their baby boy Henry. First off I'd like to thank you for even being on this page. If you know either Val and/or Tyler, you know they are by far the sweetest, most giving people most of us have been lucky to meet. I know they would NEVER ask for this, which is why I'm giving this a shot and honestly want to just give them whatever I can possibly do to help. Long story short, this is what's gone down...
One day, we noticed Henry was super lethargic. He didn’t want to walk, eat, go to the bathroom, or even play with his favorite toy. It seemed strange as Henry is a very active dog and LOVES food. We thought maybe he was just sad and moody. Never did we think twice that he was in pain. Later that night while going to the bathroom, his back legs gave out on him. Horrified, we rushed him to the hospital where he was examined and given some medications. We were advised to monitor him for the next 24 hours by hospital staff. For the next 24 hours, Henry did not leave his bed for anything. We noticed that he had almost no movement or strength in his back legs, he would not go to the bathroom at all, and he would only eat if hand fed. We knew something was terribly wrong at this point. We took Henry to the vet where, after examination, it was determined he had a serious spinal injury and he needed emergency surgery as soon as possible. At this point, we were out of options. The surgery was around $10,000 and if we elected not to do surgery, he would need to be put down. The longer we waited to get the surgery the lesser his chances were to recover mobility back in his legs. He lost what is called deep pain in his back left leg and his bladder was full which our vet had said is cause for serious concern. We rushed him to Southeast Veterinary Neurology where they took him in right away to be examined by the neurologist and then underwent an MRI. It was determined that Henry had a ruptured spinal disc in the thoracic region and the gel had spread to roughy 3 other sites. This caused him excruciating pain and halted his ability to pee on his own as well as use his back legs. That night he went into surgery. After incredible work by the surgeons and other hospital staff at Southeast Veterinary Neurology, Henry has made it out the other side. Slowly but surely with the careful eye of hospital staff as well as ourselves, he is regaining his ability to walk and be normal Henry again. It is going to take months to get our Henry back to what we remember him as but we will never lose hope.
This around the clock care and financial expense has put Val and Tyler in an extremely tough position. The goal is to help Henry with his hospital bills in any way we can. No amount is too little and we are so grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read this all. Lets help this beautiful family out! :)
